Tiana Bay- Best route through

I'm heading out east through Tiana Bay on my way to Hampton Bays/Shinnecock this weekend. This is my first trip thru Tiana this season. I know from last year that the charted buoys have moved. (got fogged in, couldn't locate bouys, turned around) Can someone please post the correct route and placement of the bouys. THX
 
I will be going though there next month, this is the route that I take, but I am going to get the updated Blue Chart for 2008. They do move the buoys sometimes; the one that they moved a couple years ago and was not on my chart at the time was the northern Red 12. Someone told me that it was moved a little more north and east so I made a change on the route in my GPS, and the next issued Blue Chart was corrected for 2006. Please use this only as a guide as there could be changes since. However, as of last year it was the same.

Andy, I see your actual track matchs my route almost exact. I have been using this route often each summer heading on the inside to points east.

Thanks. Was just down at boat looking at chart and the red "10" has definitely moved. I'll follow your routes, appreciated.

Andy LOL - no that part would not match, I was refering to my yellow line.

I was going to leave your loopy loop alone. I know it is a sore subject. ;)

How old is your chart ? Which way did it move from your chart ? Paper or GPS ?

It seems that both Andy and I were close to where 10 should be, I did hug it a little closer which is fine.

R12 was where the move was two years ago.
 
Brad.........Thats not the " Loopy Loop ".........I believe it is called the " Abalmuth Cut ". :) :) :)

I was trying to recall which buoy I could not locate, in the fog, last year. Maybe it was 12. Anyway, after green "9" I'll head north/northeast and look for 10 and 12.
 
Thanks again for posting the route. Without the fog it was a real easy trip through. Great weekend out in Hampton Bays/Shinnecock, and I took the ocean back to avoid all the no wake zones. A little choppy out there early this afternoon but not bad at all. I averaged about 25 MPH the whole way. Going through the Moriches inlet wasn't near as bad as other people/boaters would lead you to believe. I headed west past the inlet about half mile, then came back in hugging the shore.

Liquid, you're a brave soul doing the Moriches inlet in some chop. That can be deadly.
 
The inlet wasn't bad at all, it's the sand bars just outside the inlet that make it tricky. I was quite a bit offshore, or so I thought, and as I approached the inlet from the east I started getting readings of 8 feet and even 6! I looked off my starboard and saw the waves building and breaking so I headed farther south, found deeper water and then I continued west way past the inlet until I saw it was safe to turn and head inshore, and finally through the inlet itself. A dock buddy told me there's a passage between the two sandbars, I'd like to see that course first before trying it with my boat. Anybody on this board have the best route for the Moriches Inlet? Hope everyone avoided the storms late today.
 
Yes you must come in Moriches inlet from the SW. Its all shoaled up...
 
I wouldn't do it. Many people have died in that inlet. Coast guard considers it un-navigable which means if something happens to your, your boat or your crew, your insurance company may not cover you and you could be held liable.

Its not that bad....just be mindful of wind against the tide conditions. This condition primarily focuses on the outgoing with winds out of the south. Then be aware and cautious.

Dave..........I see that LAW CLASS your taking at night school.......is really starting to pay off !!!!!
