Tidal moorings

Perhaps somewhere down the line I missed my class on
mooring.. Mooring 101 or something like that.
I am hoping someone out there has come up with a safe and easy way to hook and unhook the boat.
Heres the deal....the tide is rushing in or out...which iys is doing 90% of the time. You have a 5400 lb plus boat and a 10 dingy.
When returning from sea I have to point the boat towards the mooring, kick it into neutral, jump into the moored dingy, unhook it and hook up the Carver....all in about 12 seconds.
I can hear you now...have someone aboard drive the boat, do it at neutral tide, do not go out along. Here in the real world we dont do things that way.
I am sure there must be a few clever people out there that have cured this problem.
My arms are 2 feet longer trying to hold the boat against the current.

This answer will probably sound really stupid because I'm probably not visualizing your problem correctly but I have a mooring ball in fast moving current. From the mooring ball, I have a decent sized attached line, about 8 feet long with a loop at the end and a small bouy attached near the end of the line to keep it floating. Simply pass the mooring heading into the current and snag the line with a boat hook as I drift past the ball, pop the loop on your bow cleat and you're done. Leave your dingy tied to the loop while you're gone - when you return, untie it after you're hooked up, walk it back to the stern and you're good to go.

a moring pennant with a float having a pole weighted on one end to keep it upright and easy to grab. Another pennant lead aft from the bow would make attaching from the cocpit easy.

LOL!!! Glad to hear about the vest... Sounds like there needs to be a 3rd line - hooked to the vest!

[OH, did I mention I always wear the Vest as I have a number of times almost gone out to sea. Stupid again.]
