Time To Make A Committment

I don't really care where we anchor out, but Horseshoe Bend on the Sacramento has a very swift current and can be difficult if you want to stern into the beach. Another good option is Horseshoe Bend on Connection Slough. It is protected and there are already lines tied into the trees.

If people just have to have a dock, Lost Isle might be a good option. The last time they were closed, we docked there frequently and were able to use the beach and docks. I haven't been by there lately, but it seems like somebody said they may have blockaded the docks.
 
It will be HOT in August and wind will not be an big issue. I want to anchor where I can have my stern capture any passing breeze. I don't have AC and fans are too draining on my battery......
 
The last time I went by, there was a barge and a cable across the opening of Lost Isle. There was a little dock space that was accessible, but most of it was blocked.
 
Someone marked "Anchored Out At......" and did not post where they want "other" to be. Can you give us a clue?????
 
Since my little cuddy is really not set up long term overnighting - not really even short term overnighting - if you all decide to do a raftup, perhaps I can come by some afternoon and time up to somebody's boat for a while.
 
Of course you can!!!! Staying on the hook overnight is not a requirement, just an option.

My first boat was a cuddy cruiser. With a porta potty and some camping equipment, I spent many many weekends anchored out with my BF. You might want to think about trying that. Just plan on one night the first time, to see what works and what doesn't. Something to consider.....email me with any questions.
 
I voted for the Bedrooms, but here are some other ideas if anyone's looking for alternatives. I'm easy...just tell me where to go and I'm there.

Georgianna Slough has some nice wooded areas on the north end, close to Walnut Grove and Locke, not far from fast water out the north end of Georgie Slough and in a no wake area. http://mapserver.mytopo.com/homepag....mytopo.com/homepage/index.cfm&latlontype=DMS

Another spot is Mildred Island. Mildred Island is accessible by deep draft vessels through the NE opening. It's 40 feet deep there. It's loaded with tules, but has few trees. Generally well protected in the tract, but can get blown out if a strong southerly comes along. Plenty of areas along the perimeter of the island to anchor.
 
I haven't been to Mildred for a few years. The apple orchard cove used to be my favorite anchorage. Isn't Mildred full of weeds now? Those dang things make it difficult to not drag anchor.

Again, In August, I recommend someplace where we can pick up a breeze. Wind protection is NOT an issue, but heat is!
 
I am a big fan of Horseshoe Bend at Decker Island. For those faint at heart, you may want to schedule your arrival during slack tide.
 
Me too! And we could probably catch a breeze there. If we stay away from the tules, the bottom is very sandy and holds anchors very well. At low tide, a beach is usually available.......
 
Horseshoe Bend sounds OK with me. I have dropped a hook and spent a few nights back there, but never rafted up.
SLACK TIDE, wheres the challenge in that. I've got A bumper I think, now were did I put that damn thing.
 
So August 7, 8 and 9 at Horseshoe Bend/Decker Is near the 3-Mile Slu Bridge? Do we have a consensus????
 
Let's finalize this next week. I know many are not looking at BE during the next few days. Then we can start working out the details!
