I hate this time of the year. Our marina is beginning to clear out and it is time for us to leave. For us, that means leaving American Wharf in Norwich, CT and heading up the CT River to Portland, where we winter.

Not a long cruise, but one that can be bumpy unless we watch the weather. We thought that maybe this year, we'd stop at Essex Island Marina and make a two day trip out of it. Anything to sleep on our old boat for one more night. And we do sleep so well there.

I have my list of things to do over the winter, although I'll never get them all done. Still fun to make the list and cross some things off.

I hope you all you a great winter and come back next spring. I know that we will, for at least, one more season on the water.

The season flew by and it's been pretty quiet here on the New England forum. I just called my hauler and scheduled for next Wednesday. One last cruise and a few in water maintenacne things and it's all over. Just asked my wife this AM where she wanted to cruise to next year.

The leaves are just starting to turn so we've got about 2 more weeks to go. Boat gets hauled in a week or so and then the dock hits the dry shortly abter that...

What great photographs! We came up the river on Oct 21 but it was late and we missed seeing those wonderful old boats.

Today is October 27 as I write this and our boat is out of the water and in the shed for the winter.

It's so funny how the boat changes when out of the water. I walked though her and picked up the little pieces of summer. Some rocks that the admiral picked up at State Beach on Block Island. The clothes we thought would be perfect but were somehow never worn. A menu from a great restaurant in Greenport.

Good memories, all of which we will enjoy over the winter.

Hope to see you all in the spring.

Bill & Frances.
