I am a town of hempstead resident and know that I can't go to tobay on the weekends but I was told I can go there during the week. What part of the marina can I dock? How much? Who do I have to see when I get there? Thanks

Last year I believe it was $30 mid-week for a non-resident for the day. Don't know the overnight rates. You can either check in at the office in the main building when you arrive, or wait till they come around to your boat to collect.

In the past, I have spent the day at the beach, and come back to a bill on my boat, which I then pay in the office. Occasionally, no one even comes around, and I get off free. It's a nice marina.
 
Forgot one thing-- you can dock anywhere in the marina (at least that's the way it always has been in the past), but I prefer the floating docks to the bulkhead.
 
Do people keep there boats docked there for the season? There was some open slips but I thought they might be docked there for the season. Thanks for the reply.

There is now a limit on how long you can stay. I believe it's 2 weeks but I'm not sure. I also don't know if they enforce that rule.
 
Got a question. Why would you not be able to go to tobay on the weekends? Does it have somthing to do with being a town of Hempsted resident? Just wondering because I am from East Meadow which is also Town of Hempsted. Thanks.

They check permits and you need one from the town of oysterbay to use tobay on the weekends.

Good to know. I am somewhat new to all this and may have pulled up there one day with out even knowing. Hate to threadjack but, do most beaches require local town residency to stop by?

I just heard there is a restaurant at tobay that serves you on your boat. Is this new?
 
Yes, it's new. It's Singleton's (same as the one in Bethpage). Heard it's a little pricey for what it is but I'm still anxious to try it. There was a discount coupon in Newsday a few weeks ago but of course I forgot to cut it out. Might want to check the paper in case they run it again.
 
where is it ? In the building by the docks ? or the one in the parking lot ? Or did they build a new one ?

I need to get out more often !!!
 
I don't know exactly where it is Don but they've been advertising in the papers and I've heard it on the radio too. Guess we'll have to check it out soon :)

Restaurant is on the bay side of Tobay's parking lot. If you don't have a Tobay sticker on your car you won't get in until after 4pm. Great place and it is cranking. Food is very good, but with drinks it gets pricey like any other place. Late beach crowd, meaning it gets very crowded after 5pm, especially on weekends. Calms down around 8pm. Incredible sunsets. No reservations allowed. You probably have to wait about an hour for a table, but a waitress comes and serves you drinks. They do deliver food right to the Tobay Marina for boaters. Tobay Marina is strictly for Town of Oyster Bay residents on weekends and most weekdays.
 
Grail is right, Ate there last night, beautiful sunsets and good food, pricey drinks though, and expect about 1hr or more wait...we went to check out the marina and there was a kid there checking registrations...I am from Huntington and he told me Mon thru Thurs only....
