I'm blowing way too much smoke when engine is under load. Kind of a steamy smoke with a very faint blue tint. I know that with an auto engine that is usually a sign of bad vavle stem seals but normally will not cause any power loss.
My boat seems like it wants to go initially but labors a bit up to plane then once I am up, I cannot get any revs. Really looses power after about 3000 and, although I can get it to about 4000 by feathering the throttle... it will not rev higher and if I stop pumping and deck it, it will slowly drop back down into the mid 3's.
I have posted a couple of times before about this problem... but it is still killing me.
Engine is a 2000 7.4 MPI Merc.
Compression is decent in most cylinders... I do have one that is at about 100psi while most others are between 120 and 130. Fuel pressure at rail is about 30 - 35 psi. No codes, all ignition/tune up parts are new. I do not seem to have any water intrusion.
Any ideas... please help.
Thanks guys.
Brian.
