1973 22ft SeaRay SRV220 cuddy, 188hp mercruiser, book says this model weighs about 3800 lbs. The EZ-Loader trailer currently has an OLD 2 speed manual winch and its time to replace with an electric model. Ive looked everywhere for a chart to detail how much winch I need to pull this thing up on the trailer at a regular ramp and cant even find info on the winch manufacturers websites. Looking at a variety of makes & models and I havent a clue what capacity I need. Do all electric models require a huge cable to be hard wired to the vehicle battery ? I dont want to buy something underpowered, but these things can get pricy, so Im seeking an affordable unit that will bolt on the existing manual winches plate. Any thoughts ?
