Trailering a Carver

My wife and I really like the looks of the 2767 Santego. They are in our price range and have the amenities we want, moving up from a cuddy. We want to trailer whatever boat we buy. I realise that Santegos have a 10' beam....Does anyone out there have experience trailering one of these boats?

In MA you must get a special permit to trailer anything wider than 8'6"; but if the width is under 11'6" you can pull a permit that's good for a year. Can't speak to handling and such, which I can only imagine to be a chore in close quarters such as a launch ramp. You may want to post your question in the Ask the Captain forum.
 
I'm curious what you like about the Santego vs. other trailerable boats with a narrower beam.
 
While I would be,I think,perfectly happy with an express bridge,my wife really
would like to stay away from the "cave" feeling most seem to have.The 2556 Bayliner's
interior layout isn't to her liking and I like the Santego's lower profile while it is
still a flybridge. Most other flybridges seem to weigh 1000 lbs more and I would like
to keep my towing weight below 10,000lbs.
Now,all that being said,I've only seen them on line. Maybe my perception is wrong. I do
like the lines of a Santego. I'm certainly opeen to other suggestions of boats to look at.

dljdad, I tow a 10'2" beam 33' Formula on a triaxle trailer 25-30 times a season, Launch single handed, and would not have it any other way. Its no more difficult than a standard combination, choice of tow vehicle is important. trailer with loaded boat weighs 13900, I guess it comes down to your comfort level with something that size

There is a fella in Portland who tows his Bayliner 2865 command bridge. His name is Rick and he's quite active on the Bayliner Owner board. I'd ask him about the pros and cons.

Personally, I prefer the layoutand look of it vs. the Santego.
 
We bought an 89 Santego 2767 and love it, but like Greg said above, it is a matter of preference and needs and wants and pride of previous ownernship and...) We keep her in a covered slip year round, (friendly rates, great marina and mostly mild winters) but we do have the extra expense of haul out for maintenance and repairs.
Some specs for trailering: LOA = 30.10, Beam = 10.0, Bridge Clearance = 9.2, Displacement (empty) 8400#.
