I want to change trans. fluid and have an idea on how to, but need to confirm. I have a hand pump/vaccuum oil extractor that I use to change engine oil by putting syphon hose down dip stick tube.
To change tranny fluid, do I unscrew dipstick and put syphon hose in and pump it out? To add fluid, reverse order? Transmissions are Borg-Warner 1:1 (circa 1975/Mercruiser 225hp Ford 302). Do I need to run engine to warm fluid or in gear? Good/Bad trans fluids? I don't have an owner's manual.
