Yesterday I installed a new Lowrance fishfinder. The instructions said to place the new transducer slightly below the bottom of the hull. There is a mid line on the transducer that they say should align with the bottom edge of the hull. That puts about 1/4 of the bottom of the transducer in the water stream coming off the bottom of the hull. At 40 mph, that a tremendous amount of pressure on the transducer and the bracket. Is this the way you guys have installed them? I believe my last one was even or slightly above the bottome of the hull.

Do as the instructions say.

If you raise it, you will get false readings ( if any ) while running.

You have to get below the bubbles and turbulence along the hull. The transducer (and it's mount) are designed accordingly. Follow the directions.
