Planning a trip mid-August to Inner Harbor with the family (wife and our two children, 9 & 12). Another couple will be joining us on their boat for the weekend as well, so two slips. We plan on staying Friday night and Saturday night. Any particular marinas/areas to look at or stay away from? Let me know.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Inner Harbor East. You can walk to all the good spots in the harbor. Very well run marina. No pool, but a great location.

I second Inner Harbor East. But they do have pools! For $8/day they've got a deal with Maryland Athletic club that gets boaters full use of the club plus their pools (I think they have 3). It's by far the best location in town.

Kurt...the MAC is actually $8/day.

Greg...if you can swing it, Inner Harbor East will give you the 3rd night for free...just pay for electric.

Inner Harbor East is on the right side on approach into Baltimore Harbor. Baltimore Marine Center at Inner Harbor is as close as you can get to downtown Baltimore. The facility is great and the Rusty Scupper is located right next to the marina.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

Is Inner Harbor East much further than Baltimore Marine Center to downtown (aquarium, etc.)? What's the Rusty Scupper, a restaurant I'm assuming?

Greg

Yes, Rusty Scupper is a restaurant. Inner Harbor East is very close to the Aquarium, Power Plant, Little Italy, Harbor Place and Fells Point. Too many restaurants within a short walk to mention, but don't overlook Teavolve Cafe (http://www.teavolve.com/). It's not just tea they serve...

Shrimp and Grits....to die for.

I was thinking about the tea-infused sangria. But the grits are pretty darn good too :-)

You can't get any closer to the aquarium and downtown Baltimore than the Inner Harbor Marina at the Rusty Scupper.

Both marinas mentioned offer very good services and are close to all of the inner harbor sites. We prefer Inner Harbor East because of its close proximity to Little Italy and Fells Point. The people managing the marina are the best.

Baltimore Marine Center is closer to the stadiums (a tour of Camden Yards is a must if you follow baseball). Rusty Scupper is a very good (but somewhat pricey) restaurant. Check their menus at their internet site.

You can walk to all Inner harbor sites from either marina.

Technically, Inner Harbor East is .2 miles closer to the Aquarium than Inner Harbor Marina. But BMC Inner Harbor Marina is closer to Hooters :-)

Thanks Kurt....you saved me the trouble of having to count my footsteps.

Walking across the pier bridges it usually takes me about 10 minutes to reach the Aquarium.

Greg,

We'll be staying at the Inner Harbour East Friday and Saturday night. Wife and 2 kids aboard ages 6 & 12. Look for black Sea Ray 270 "Liza Jane".

We opted for Baltimore Marine Center at Inner Harbor since it's closer to the Science Center, Sports Legends Museum (Camden Yards) and of course the Rusty Scupper ;). We plan on going to the National Aquarium as well. BMC at Inner Harbor is $2.50/ft and $18/day for electric, water, cable, pump-out (at your slip) and use of the swimming pool.

We'll be arriving Friday 8/12 around 10am and are staying through Sunday 8/14. We have a Cruisers Yachts 3372, "More Lee'Sure Time", if you make your way over.

Greg, we'll be there this Friday and Saturday as well. You won't be able to miss our boat if you see it.

Kurt,

We're going to Baltimore August 12th-14th

Greg

We spent the nights of August 4th and 5th at the Inner Harbor East Marina. Staff was super friendly and the facilities were very clean. We didn't spend much time there as we were out and about the Inner Harbor.

The Rusty Scupper had great crab cakes, but was a little pricey. I highly recommend the Cobb Salad at McCormick and Schmicks.

If you go to a game, make sure you indulge in some National Bohemian beer (Natty Bo), it was cold and went down easy!

I was surprised at the amount of fish swimming around the marina. There were schools of hundreds of fish circling the area. I looked them up online and the closest I could come to was American Shad. If anyone knows what these schools are for sure, let me know.

Additionally, the Inner Harbor had the largest police and security presence I've seen in many years. There weren't as many panhandlers as I have seen in the past. We had a very good family trip!
