When buying an older boat with V drive and ZF transmission is there a way to check if the transmission is still good besides checking the fluids? What can a mechanic do without taking it apart?
Fluid check sent to a reputable shop, run it and listen. Fresh fluid would be a tell tale sign to me. Maybe a mech's stethoscope and a temp gauge would aid the trained pro as well.
