This may be a dumb thought, but has anybody here ever rigged an opaque, weighted curtain of some sort to hang from the transom or swim platform to shade their sterndrive/trim tabs/rudders, etc? It seems that a detachable shade device could give you the benefits of greatly reduced marine growth as in a boathouse, and if properly designed, be easily removable. I envision several stainless eye hooks in the bottom of the swim platform, and the equivalent of a shower curtain with lead weights in the bottom hanging from the eye hooks.
I realize it would be somewhat of a hassle removing and replacing each time, but compared to keeping a sterndrive clean?
Anybody here with experience moving the same boat between a boathouse and an open slip and relative rates of marine growth?
