My trim indicator is not indicating, the trim switch works fine, I have a I/O bravo 2, anyone have any ideas?, thanks!

There is an indicator switch on your OD---probably not working---check to see if the wire is broken...

My guess would be the sender. The trim indicator is the one on the starboard side of the drive; trim limit is on the port side. I believe the drive and the bellhousing have to come off to replace it in order to get the wires run properly.

thanks guys, I wonder if I can stretch those wires and re-attach rather than removing the housing and drive...

If you've already found the wires are broken, like ours were, you'll likely find what's left isn't splice-able...if that's a word... In our case corrosion got into the metal of the wires and the insulation was brittle anyhow. Think some here have spliced a new set of "pucks" to existing good wire from bad pucks, though. If I had to rate this repair short of a full replacement, I'd say the chances of successfully cleaning non-working pucks are way better than splicing wires that have already failed due to age and weather. But...
Your mileage may vary,
And this is another reason to store the boat with the drive down if at all possible. Helps shield the boots and wires from the elements.
But stay tuned, I think somebody here has managed to change the whole kit with the bellhousing in place.

I found some corrosion at the coupler so I took it apart and cut the copper wire down only to find the copper wire turned black, so I cut over a foot of wire, it keeps showing up black, I am assuming he whole wire is shot and I wont have a gauge until I replace it...

the puck seal failed maybe also ? Good luck replacing it. It is one of the most maddening things to try to fish thru, and set up correctly, and after you do it all, and have the drive back on and aligned correctly, it still doesn't work or the wire seal or bushing, or whatever you want to call it lets water in you have to do it all over again. Maybe twice more.

But then again you might want to blow it off and not do it till you have to replace the bellows, then do everything then.

Yes Chief, thats what I am gonna do, Instead of looking at the gauge I'll do if by feel.. thanks!

I replaced the trim limit and sender on our Bravo I a couple of years ago. You definitely have to remove the drive and I did have to remove the bolts that hold the gimbal housing in place; however, I did not remove/disconnect the bellows. I was able to move the housing around enough to get the wires ran. I did have my 10 year old son help get the bolt that holds the wire seal in place started since his hands are small but I think I could have done it myself if I had to.

Black wire is not bad. Just got surface corrosion. When it turns pink it's full of porosity and brittle.

They're not worth the effort of repairing and the probability of it going out again...just like the Chief said.

...and doing it by 'feel' makes you more aware of the boat and a better boater.
