Trim tab question

I recently replaced my HPU for my bennet trim tabs. I was very particular about making sure the wiring went back the right way but I think something somewhere has gone wrong. Maybe I mixed up the wires, or maybe some messed with the old unit before I bought the boat.... maybe the new unit is wired slightly different than the old (which I doubt since it's only 4 wires into a plug)

Either way. Question is, if I operate the toggle switch on the port side of the boat, should the port trim tab move? (Obviously same with starboard)

Or is it crossed, if I operate the port toggle switch, the starboard trim tab moves.

Thanks!!

I'm not sure which way is correct but I have had boats wired both ways. Probably comes down to personal preference and what you are used to.

The tab opposite the switch you press moves. The logic is that if you press the starboard switch, you lower the port tab, it will raise the port side of the stern which causes starboard side to come down. People think of the tabs as being used to raise and lower the bow, which they do, but they do it by lifting at the stern.

What Michael said, they are normally crossed so that if you want the right bow down, the port tab goes down to lift the stern which pushes right bow down and vice versa. It's intuitive that way and how it would be set from the factory.

cross

Yup, normally set up from the factory to work so the boat responds in the direction the controls are pushed. But if you desire them to work on the same side that's fine too.
