Has anyone had any experience with this type of trim tab? Positive or negative SX9510-60 (Smart Tabs SX Trim Tabs) this is for use on a 16teen ft 130HP I put on a new prop 19" pitch, the only one I was able to fine and the boat plains very fast I was looking for a 17" no luck for a short hub, but I am happy with this one, (it works) but I do need to move everyone around.

Will the trim help!

I have Lenco's on my 19 ft. Cobia bay boat. Them are some fast acting tabs. Much faster than hydraulics.

The Smarttabs are THE BALLS!!! I have them on a 19.5 Stingray, and she's a totally different boat. I would e-mail John at Nauticus and ask him if 60 lbs. is maybe too heavy for your boat? I would think the 40lbs. would be better. Try to find an owner's forum or your particular boat and see what everyone else says... Good luck.

EDIT - I misread your post. If it planes quickly and you don't feel the need to move everyone around why do you want the tabs?

That is what wrong, if it just the two of us I need to pull the drive up some or it stall!

we use it yesterday to pull a tube and I was able to move one person to ride in the bow so it was not riding as high!

once it lever off I was doing 3500 rpm and it pull very well.

Smart tabs work on the same premise as the automatic shocks in the old Volvo 760 series. They compensate for every variation with a great degree of accuracy. They are great until they fail. If you are having to adjust pax to compensate for hull position, I would venture to guess one or both are starting to fail.

Replacing both "shocks" is far more expensive than a new set of Bennett's or Lenco's. Personally, I am a Bennett person. Never had Lenco's. Never been disappointed with Bennett's either.

I have Bennets on the Chris Craft. They are very old and absolutely bullet proof.
Never had any issues with them at all. But they move slow.
I don't know if Lenco has them for bigger boats. My Cobia came with them. I see a lot of them on bay boats. I do like how fast they work. I can say more in a few years. I don't know the reliability yet, I have not had them that long.

The Smart tabs will absolutely help. No matter what your load is, on that small of a boat you're likely to have issues with occasional listing anyway. The tabs will definitely greatly reduce bow rise and porpoising, and lower your planing speed as well. Again, I'm not sure if I'd go with 60 lbs, but ask John; he responds very quickly to email. I don't agree with KIDa about the cost, either. The cheapest Lenco or Bennett set is almost $500, while the Smart tabs are $160. Plus, you have the advantage of no wiring, no hydraulics, and no thru-hull drilling or fittings.
