Hello all. It has been some time since I have been on the forums, but I have been boating like mad.
I am considering a trip and I would like any advice/council/berating you all could offer.
First, about me:
I have been boating for 2 years, but have about 250 hours in those two years. All those hours are on my current boat. I consider myself a competent captain, and know how to use my lines to dock and can usually maneuver my boat wherever I need to put her. I am very safety aware and have all the needed safety stuff on board, as well as an EPIRB.
I have piloted this boat on several decent length trips. I took the boat from DE to Baltimore and then Annapolis and back. Then from DE to my Marina on the Hudson.
I also took a 9 day trip to Lake Champlain last year, stayed on the hook each night.
I have piloted her in thunderstorms and high winds (which was not a bit of fun)
I regularly take her out for trips and stay on the hook with great regularity.
Now about my boat:
Meridian 391 Gasser. Radar, GPS, Backup GPS, Radio, Backup Radio, 10 foot dinghy
The trip we have planned ( in theory), Starting Saturday July 5th.
Saturday Travel to Greenport 6:00
Sunday Greenport to Block Island 2:00
Monday Block Island to Hyanis 5:00
Tuesday Day Trip to Martha (via ferry)
Wednesday Day Trip to Nantucket (via Ferry)
Thursday Hyanis to Mystic 6:00
Friday Mystic
Saturday Mystic to LHYC 8:00
I am aware that this is all weather dependent. I am comfortable with my boat in up to 4 foot seas (and I mean real 4 footers, not what most boaters call 4 footers, which are usually about 2 footers)
I will have bailout plans for each leg.
I know it is a fairly aggressive schedule, but I am not a fan of getting somewhere and hanging out for a week.
So is there any advice, suggestions, or what not out there?
Thanks,
Anthony
