Trojan 440 Upgrades, Fixes and Ideas

Hey guys checking back in, have a few pictures with more to follow. Knocked down some walls but will be going back up. Just easier to put the material on. The cabinets are coming out great and should start some installs in a week or two. Wife put in a request for a diesel fired oven so were checking into that.

Yes it is a lot of work but even though this is not a boat here is my last project. Roof went bad on it and between rot and mold I had to strip it down to the frame and put in all new. I did everything except for paint. I have to admit I will not be doing everything on this project just because of time issues.

We did it up for our local College football team.

I tell you I have to get this resizing thing down. I see only 1 that I did worked. Sorry guys.

Hi Todd Impressive! Interesting to see what's behind the paneling. I take it you are looking for a diesel fired heater. My boat came with one and it's great to have. I had an Espar hydronic 12, it finally gave up and I had to look for a replacement . I was lucky enough to find an Espar 10 hydronic on E Bay. It hooked right up to my system and works great,a little smaller but it has enough capacity to heat the boat inside and out.
I have rubber hoses but a guy I talked with said today he would use Pex tubing.

Odvar

Hi odvar, yes a diesel heater is a must. We are on the boat a lot in winter as it sounds you are. I want to put in some vents for the windshield because defrosters would be great. Also since you have the QSM as well I have a question for you. I have not checked it out yet but if you answer me before I do I do have a question? The two red wires and the two yellow wires coming from your ECM down to the battery bank, are they both going to the positive leads? Any way I will post some more pictures when I get back up to the boat.

I can't wait to see this all come together Todd. I thought I did a few projects. Lol. Having everything out like that would be awesome. You can literally design the salon any way you want.

Todd. If you have the bow mounted air horns, can you take a photo of where they through bolt on the inside for me?

Hey John next time I am up there I will take a picture. I just ran new air lines to them. If I remember correctly there are two bolts that hold it down, there are two air lines going two it that are teed together and then from there it is a single air line going to the air pump that is located about where the electrical panel is but more in line with the horn on the roof.

Thanks Todd. My deck horns do not work. The previous owner remedied that by installing new electronic horns on the arch. I have wanted to remove and/or replace the the deck unit since I have bought the boat but did not want to just start taking down ceiling panels until I found it. This will help immensely.

John I found an old picture that shows the air pump and where it is at. If you need more I will be on the boat in a couple of days and I can take a different picture for you.

Just had the electrical panels powder coated and then had a trophy shop make the labels.

That looks great I'm guessing your panels do not have back lights?
I have a very different setup and mine have back lights I don't think would work with those labels.

What is the time frame for this project? I can't wait to see the boat finished!!

Thanks Todd. If my air compressor is in the same place it is going to stay right where it is. That is fairly unaccessible in my opinion. Actually, the photo I was looking for was the bottom side of the horns themselves. Like I said, I would like to try and remove them if it is relatively easy and I do not have to tear apart the entire headliner to find it.

You panels look great. They are a lot different than any I have seen in a trojan to date though.

That surprises me about the panels being different. I have been on only two other boats and they had the same panels. Dave I hope to have everything done by the end of the year. A big change should of happened this week and I will go check on things this weekend and if so I will have some pictures.
