Tsunami on Long Island - What if?

Well, If the Canary Islands experience a sea slide, that will give us about eight hours to move to where? Traffic would snarl all major highways...Maybe head for the top of a land fill. A giant whirlpool like this in the GSB would scare the hell out of me!

I believe the Hudson is a fault line & there is one in Manhattan under 125th st . The Hudson one it not really an issue, hey it’s not like there is a power plant on it like japan.

If Long Island got hit I would wind up being on both the North Shore & South Shore and then have to debate with myself

I'll be on the roof of our 5 story, built-like -a -brick-outhouse-condo. That makes it about 60' over the ocean across the street.

Andy you mean the Indian Point Nuke doesn't count? ;)

As Dan pointed out, Indian Point is on the Fault Line. What realy bothers me is my insurance does not cover radiation damage so it would be a complete loss. Being a mile from the plant does have its diadvantages. Oh well time for a beer and kiss my as- goodbye.

Not really. We were out on the river back in 1988 when a quake hit. Four foot rollers came out of no where and moved down the river.
But Indian Point was voted most likely to fail due to a quake.
