This sunday went to go up on plane and boat would not go above 2500 rpm, I top out at 3500.

I tried a few times. it sounded like the turbos were not kicking in because normally I hear a whine when I go on plane and that is the turbo's.

I stopped, went into reverse thinking maybe something was on props and that worked. Boat ran fine after that.

I can't think of a reason both turbo's would not kick in? It could of been grass on props though I felt nothing, though again with IPS and the fly by wire and the big rubber seal you don't get much feel or vibration from props.

I did clog up the genny as did 2 other boats on our raft up that day, so there is alot of eel grass in the bay.

Anything I should check? Was a hot day. I don't really warm up boat, I just go.
Ran fine after that and on the way home.

Probably not turbos but junk on props.
Look for simple stuff(cheap) first

Did they get hot? You may have over temp load limiters.
Ck strainers.

Turbos have a sweet spot in RPM and you need to get there for the turbo to do its thing.

Yeah, I know when the turbo's kick in but when I throttle up and I mean up all the way, the boat usually will delay then jump up and whine. I didn't get that. I will check for grass as I said there was lot of weed in bay sunday and my genny did suck it up so I assume the motors did too though the IPS pickup is above the props and I find the IPS don't really get as much weed in them as the A/C and genny. I may have to add south bay strainers to those intakes. I can't do much about IPS pickup.

I did watch temp and it was rock solid at 185 both motors which is where it hangs after warmed up.

The likely cause was something like the eel grass preventing enough flow to spool up the turbos.
Did you get black smoke at and below that 2,500 rpm?
Did it take a long time to get to the 2,500 rpms?
Do you have pyro or boost gages?
If yes what did they read?

FWIW - your engine temp gages will not show the problems occurring from the turbo boost, that will only show up with the exhaust gas temp (EGT / pyro) gages.

Hope this helps

No black smoke, IPS is under water exhausted and I never see smoke.
Yes, took a long time to get to the the 2500, longer than normal.
I think I have turbo gauge but did not look at on panel.
I have EVC and I keep Temp, RPM and fuel burn on display but can switch the display.
Next time I will switch and look if it happens again.
FWIW, I did see grass come off when I went in reverse.

Guess I am okay but need to check strainers and probably pull open impeller for Genny.

Damn weed!

It was weeds. Same thing happened to my boat 2 weekends ago. Went in reverse, saw a bunch of eel grass come up and all was good.
