I recently added an Apple TV device to my boat. It works well, but….. It appears most marina Wi-Fi networks separate the clients. So, the functionality of the Apple TV is diminished since I can't use AirPlay to watch content from an iPhone etc.

To use Airplay, I need a wireless bridge, router and wireless access point of my own to create a Wi-Fi network on my boat.

Are there any devices that provide all three functions? I'm trying to keep the footprint small, connecting wires to a minimum and the least number of power supplies. I know I can use a wireless router but I'm hoping to only need one device.

I'd appreciate any ideas.
 
I do not like the idea of using one device to connect to a hotspot and provide a hotspot.
 
What I have done in past:
Use windows old laptop and ICS (internet connection sharing)
Laptop must have wifi to connect to hotspot and LAN port to connect to your wifi router.
Google Windows ICS for configuration instructions.
Since you have apple stuff, I would use a dual band wifi router for your network.
The 5G band will not compete with the 2.4 band the marina has.
The gateway for the router would be the Windows laptop ICS.
 
Thanks, blue nova. That's not a bad idea. Right now I have a wireless bridge and a wireless access point with a built in router. I'm trying to get to the smallest footprint available.

There are commercial devices with two separate radios like the ones used to light up an entire sports stadiums etc. but I am looking for something small and powered by 12vdc if possible.

I thought this was for watching TV on the hook where power was not an issue;)
If just for music, a blue tooth receiver is best as airplay uses wifi, and takes far more power from your phone:)
 
Most marinas where a visit do not have cable TV service. I can stream anything on my home Xfinity service via Tivo to my iPad or iPhone. Apple TV does not have a Tivo client like iPads and iPhones. With Airplay I can watch everything I subscribe to on my boat TV via AirPlay. I have Bluetooth for music. I'm not interested in music on the Apple TV.
 
If you are using a Rouge connected to a WIFI router on your boat you should be able to connect both the phone and Apple TV to your boat network. Now if you are using you phone's data plan to stream the TiVo app then you will not be able to use AirPlay unless your phone has a hotspot function where you can connect the Apple TV to.

After re-reading your post I guess I am not sure if you have a rouge or Ubiquty already.
 
Actually, I discovered that Rouge Wave makes exactly what I'm looking for but it's $1800.00. I guess I'll keep using my bridge and router setup for a while.
 
I don't think it will get much better then. I will say the Bullet drags in the outlying hotspots. We have used it from Florida to Great Exuma.
