Border check stations at Yermo, Needles and Vidal Jct. have increased operating hours to 24/7. As of March 9, approximately1,865 trailered boats have been checked. About 184 boats contained water that needed to be drained. During the week of February 26, two boats from Lake Mead destined for California were stopped with suspected quagga mussel. Per protocol, all visible mussels were removed from the boat at the station and sent to a lab for further analysis. Boats were held in quarantine awaiting inspection and release by DFG. Earlier that week, Arizona intercepted a 55 foot houseboat covered with adult quagga mussels. The boat is in quarantine. Lab observations indicate that mussels survived the transport.

Quagga mussel flyers have been printed and distribution has begun. All- weather signs and brochures will be available soon. A distribution list is being developed (contact person: Troy Swauger – tswauger**dfg.ca.gov).
Surface surveys of high priority waterbodies were also completed in coastal areas, in the valleys between the coastal ranges as far north as Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties and most of the Central Valley. No quagga mussels have been found.

I normally boat around in the delta, then once a year run up to Bullards Bar near Marysville with some friends. Would you say that having the boat out of the water in the delta for one week prior to the trip (along with cleaning, etc) would be a good amount of time to mitigate anything I've missed?
