Ran across this during morning reading. An interesting status report that we don't get to see very often.

Active Duty: 323,951

5 to 1 O to E ratio? That can't be near enough senior enlisted to keep all those O's out of trouble.

Partially explains the massive budgets, though.

Mike, you have to remember that the Navy, like the Air Force, has a lot of pilots. They are all officers and skew the ratios.

Speaking of Navy pilots, the Blue Angels are in town today for the ND-Navy game. They flew in yesterday and will do a fly-by before the game. So much for cutting back. I, for one, am glad to have them!
 
Your information seems accurate. I'm currently on Bataan, LHD 5. She indeed is underway in the Atlantic Ocean. First time on an LHD. These Harrier jets and Ospreys are amazing. Watched a harrier land yesterday: Flew up beside the fantail, stopped and then moved 90 degrees to starboard, sideways, to land on deck!
