Vacuflush or Marine Elegance?

Capt. Bill if you ever get the chance to install or use an Elegance you will change your opinion. I really liked the VacuFlush as well until I changed to the Elegance. I know I seem like Vic's poster child but my wife's medical conditions made me have to look for an alternative to the VacuFlush. I saw an ad for them in my ABYC magazine and immediatly called Vic and did a pre-order before they were in full production. I'm pleased to say even though I got an early model, in many cases this has been a negative, but not with the Elegance.
It's probably one of the best purchases I have made for the boat.

But I don't even have an opinion to change on the Elegance yet Bill. :-)

They do sound like a nice unit though.

I use a poly 36 gallon tank on my boat. Then for waste treatment a PuraSan with the Hold-N-Treat controls. I have my system configured so it is impossible to pump raw waste overboard, it's either treated or pumped out. This system combined with the Elegance has been a terrific package for my 40' Mainship.
I believe you can also get the Elegance with dual fresh water/ raw water controls now but fresh water on your boat shouldn't be an issue.
I don't like the idea of raw water flushing because it can introduce critters and grass into the head making for a nasty smell. I figure in an emergency I could always get a bucket of raw water and just dump it in the bowl and flush with the evacuation button on the Smart Controller then there would be little chance of critter smell.

Get the largest tank that will fit. Adding a Purasan will make your life easier too. The Hold 'n Treat system is great.
