I just encountered a new VF problem, my vacuum pump does not come on when I flush. I went to the pump and if I tap it anywhere (the pump motor, vacuum sensor, reservoir) it will kick on.

I'm thinking a clog may have caused this, but when it kicks on, it does appear to drain the toilet, so the clog idea isn't apparent.

Any ideas?

try temporarily bypassing the sensor switch next time it wont run.

Sounds like th switch.... Bypass it as Bruce suggests or manually press on the tip of the contact at th end of the rod.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking also.

Is it something that could be blocked on the switch or should I just replace it? I'm home now and would probably have to order the part before I get there to test it.

Usually the problem isn't the electrical switch, but the mechanical side of it which is a diaphragm exposed to the "stuff" and rod with spring. The whole thing cost about $100/120 or so..
