Spent this weekend at Hampton Roads City Piers, Hampton Roads, Va. I left Thursday night to RON with some friends about 10 miles up river with intent to depart at 0600 Friday morning. I departed my marina with full water and used the water tank as a source for friday night and part of Saturday. The holding tank looked to be about 1/4 full Friday night. The water tank gauge flickered between 3/4 and full when we tied up at noon on Saturday and connected the dockside water.

When we left Monday morning, the water tank flickered between 1/2 and 3/4 full and the holding tank about 1/2 full. About 1/2 way home, the holding tank showed full and the water tank showing a solid 1/2 full. I realize the gauges are not entirely accurate, I am just using them to give you an idea of consumption.

Does the Vacu Flush normally use only the on board water as a source of flushing, or does the dockside water come into play and I need to look for yet another leak in the water system?

Boat model is 1999 Sea Ray 330

TIA.

David, the VacuFlush operates from the pressurized fresh water from the ship's system. But that water has to get by 1) the water valve that is connected to your foot pedal to flush the toilet, as well as 2) getting past the ball valve at the bottom of the toilet bowl. Is the toilet bowl filling up between flushes? If not, I haven't even a clue as to what's happening.

My last 3 boats had VF heads that were plumbed into the cold fresh water pressure system – used whatever water source that was active at the time
Unless your VF is plumbed directly to the tank it should be drawing from the active source

Vic,

The unit is working great. The more I use it, the better I like it. I hold the pedal up for 3-5 seconds to make sure it has ample water in the bowl in addition to the recycled adult beverage. I mash the pedal down quickly to open the ball valve, keep the pedal held down for 3-5 seconds as per the directions and let it snap back up. After the ball valve smaps closed, the bowl continues to fill with about 1" of water. All is according to Hoyle. I'm suspecting a leak elsewhere in the water system. Damned if I can find it.

Andy,

I guess it must be plumbed to the pressure side of the system regardless. Rethinking the weekend, I recall now that as soon as I connected the city water to the boat, I shut off the water pump. I had pressure to both sinks and as I told Vic, the head worked as advertised.

It's gotta be a leak at a joint someplace. Everything from the galley to the head to the water tank is dry. I did pump about 5 gallons out of the bilge and it was fresh water, so I know the boat itself does not have a leak. Only two places left to check are the hot water heater and the aft deck shower. Of course both are a RPITA to get to.

Thanks
