I have a vintage 2001 Vacuflush System with Vacuum Generator VG 12, 759012. Waste was accumulating on top of the bellows so I pulled out my manual and see the bellows is part number 230980. A late night trip to West Marine and I pick up a a Sealand bellows Mfg No 385230980 (Kit, Bellows-S/T Pump). West Marine says this will work and has all the parts I need. Long story short, it doesn't work. It is as though the rod portion of the bellows is too short. With the 2 piece Bellows Clamp installed the bellows will not allow full movement to top of the upward stroke. The motor turns a partial revolution and stops and the circuit breaker trips just as it should when jammed. Thinking maybe there was a re-design I even tried installing it without the 2 piece clamp to allow more movement upward. Since the bellows would not seat correctly on the O-ring I canned this idea. Are there 2 different bellows kits? Old one 230980, newer version 385230980? Any thoughts appreciated.
 
Yes, was reddesigned, must go to mfg, they will send the correct parts.. Remember, in most cases, the WM people are not boaters! Don't rely on their knowledge, this is NOT always the case. But it happens more often than not. If in the Miami or Ft Lauderdale area many of their staff are retired and have alot of experience, with good advice.

Not a big deal, with the right parts.

Thanks for the reply. I am in Fort Lauderdale so I am hoping to pick up the correct part from Ward's who I think is the Sealand Distributor. Funny how this stuff happens on weekends when you can't get exactly what you need.

If you have Vacu-Flush pumps that have the motor gear and the pump gear in the same plane, or straight cut gears, that is the old style. The new style pump uses a worm type gear and is much more quiet.

E.M. can hook you up with the parts. I don't think you want to stick with the old style. The difference in sound levels was substantial.
 
Bellows indeed last around 15 to 20 years and then they start leaking, or squirting :(

At that point you may want to consider placing the bellow, gear and motor as a kit, although $300 but 15 years out of an electric motor is not bad :)

The new style pump has screws clamping the top to the bottom. If you have the ring clamps around the pump upper and lower sections it's an oldie.
 
Aahh. Conversion pump installed. It is super quiet and pumps for 15 seconds instead of the previous 45 seconds. You must follow instructions very precisely.
 
Environmental Marine has shipped parts to the Bahamas for us and I cannot recommend them enough. A great team and they get the parts out in a hurry.
Yes, if you snap that top part in with the seal in the wrong place it does not work!
