We put a fresh coat of VC-17 bottom paint on our boat at the beginning of our boating season (late April or early May) each year. Our boating season is about 6 months. Our marina does a light power wash of our boat's bottom during lift out in the fall and the bottom looks good and is pretty much ready for the annual fresh coat of VC-17 in the spring with just a wipe down before application of the VC-17.
Almost all of the VC17 users at our club do it each year but I think some could get by with every other year. The beauty of VC17 is how thin it coats and build up doesn't occur.
