I am reading a press release about Shield's (Teleflex July 2006) POLY X marine sanitation hose that has a LIFETIME "no smell" warranty against odor permeation. I have not been able to find a place to buy it.

It's on Shield's web page. Has any one tried it?

In looking it over on their website, I wouldn't use that hose with a treatment system, as it has steel wire reinforcement (direct path for electrolysis, particularly with a Lectra/San or electro-scan). But with a holding tank, I don't see any problem. Apparently it's so new that they don't have it out at their distributors yet.

Vic, wouldn't the steel reinforcement be inbedded into the hose? If so, there would be no direct contact between water, waste & steel reinforcement, no ?

Steel reinforcement is indeed imbedded in the hose - but at the two ends, where the hose has been cut, a direct path is provided between one end of the hose and the other end of the hose. There's usually a bronze seacock or through-hull at the terminal end of the hose...

Very true Vic but wouldn't double clamping prevent liquid of any sort from completing circuit. Not trying to be argumentative but when cut & wire snipped carefully, it should still be imbedded in hose. Can always use the hose with the rigid plastic reinforcement.

If it were I, and I had a Lectra/San, I wouldn't use it; I'd go with the other type that has the plastic helix reinforcement.
