We are leaving friday for vacation to Block/for a day, (No Champlins, we always anchor, Menemsha for our anniversary,we got hitched on the beach four years ago. Then to oak Bluffs or Edgartown for a couple days, then Nantucket and hitting Cuttyhunk or Hadley on the return. The question is how has the weather pattern been? The same as inland, wet, cold rainy? More Fog then normal?. The admiral keeps reading the heavy seas warning for the trip to Nantucket and is attempting to mutinize that leg.I assure her that there are indeed boaters out there and the world is still going around but some input from someone in the area would be interesting.
Thanks,

The fog has been average. The rain has been way above average and until this week the temps have been fairly cool. Sea state is always changeable, but not particularly different than past years. I put little faith in routine sea/weather forecasts until you are with/in the 48 hour timeframe- therefore would allow extra time in your travel plans in case weather not cooperative. May actually be in Menemsha myself this weekend - if I can get through and get a reservation.

Mx8, we travel to Edgartown each year for the first week in August and will be heading out on Saturday unless the weather is too snotty. Our experience has varied over the years, but the trip back to New London has been consistently more difficult than the trip out...SSW winds always make getting back home a challenge, so plan extra time on the way back. As TheoMD states, it is best to check the marine forecast a few days prior to see what the sea state will be. Don't shy away from heading out there though, as the sights/beaches/sunsets there are second to none.

i flew in to Nantucket yesterday, and i haven't seen rain or fog yet :)

it's actaully pretty nice... a little breezy yesterday, calmer this morning. forecast is for 2 to 3 footers in the sound throughout the week.

There does seem to be more fog than in previous summers in Nantucket. Most mornings it burns off by 9 and most evenings it starts rolling in about 7 or 8.

I just made the trip to Block and back. I folowed the Friday storm out and had great weather. Very foggy yesterday morning. We left at 10:30 and didn't get clear water until after the Jamestown bridge.

Thanks, we do have extra time for weather issues so, time to load the boat with "stuff", and shove off. Now, where did I leave those fold up bikes......
