A question for fellow boater's with the new Volvo Ocean Series drive:
I heard there are issues with these engines overheating, especially in shallow water.
The overheating is caused by mud, dirt, debris, or grass being sucked into the new forward facing water intakes (especially the lowest hole located just above the skeg) on this particular outdrive. The heat-exchanger gets clogged and then she overheats.
The majority of the problems reported seem to be occurring in the tidal bays of New Jersey, where you are lucky to have more than 3 feet of water and there is LOTS of sea grass.
Anyone else experience or hear of this?
Thanks,
Phil
