So I'm thinking of taking a nice trip from the south delta up to Walnut Grove. There seem to be several ways to get there and I would like to know which is fastest? I'll be taking the wave runner so I won't have to worry about bridges.

Georgiana Slu is the most protected from the winds, but has many no wake zones; The Sac has fewer no wake zones and on a non-windy day would probably be fastest. The Mokelumne is wind protected and few no wake zones.

I usually take Georgiana Slu to Walnut Grove. I just like it!

I beleive there is atleast one bridge that requires advance notice to open going up GS. You might wantr to check it out before leaving.

I went up it a couple of years ago in April. We needed to open one bridge and called on Ch 9. No problem. There are lots of private docks long the length. If there is a boat tied to a dock, you must slow unless you can stay 200 ft away. There is also an area near the north end which is marked No Wake Zone to help preserve the levees. The signs are hard to notice due to overgrowth of vegetation......

UD,

On the Georgiana you have a no wake zone when you leave the Mokelumne most of the ways to Oxbow Marina. You'll then pass under the Tyler Island Bridge, but you shouldn't have to open that on a jet ski, but there is a no wake zone on the north side of it. You'll also pass a couple of permanently anchored boats that must be slowed down for and finally the last two miles prior to hitting the Old Sacramento are a No Wake zone. It is a beautiful ride, but would be tedious on a jet ski. I would opt for the North Fork of the Mokelumne and then come through the Delta Cross Channel Gates. It's also a nice ride, you can travel at speed and you can also stop for a toddy at Giustis.

Thanks, Dave. I was thinking the same thing. I've been through Georgianna before, but it was some time ago and I do remember that it took some time. Besides, I've never been up the Mokelumne, so that will be something new.
