Spoke to the nice folks at The Chandlery in Essex today. Considering a move there, or some where in Essex. There is a waiting list for a 30' slip. Certainly closer to the Sound, about 4.5 miles difference. It would cost about 1K more per year (for slip) there than where I am up the river.
However it would be about a 20 min ride less one way if we were going out to the sound. We estimate (with our burn rate, etc) it would be a $21 savings RT. If we made 10 trips/year, well a savings is there, but still more.
We sometimes don't go out anywhere, and just stay in the river at The Cove -a special place, still closer. Hmmmm. Essex is a great town, with quite the "New England" flavor, many Bars/Restaurants with in walking distance. (Can't do that at my marina - so you are stuck with the local marina drunks.)
Might make the move...........
