Washing to Remove Wax

Wanting to start with a fresh canvas if you will. In order to remove any past wax or polishes from the new to us boat can I use Dawn dishwashing soap to clean the boat or do I need something like Yacht Brites Serious Marine Cleaner that states it strips wax?

Dawn will take the wax off. No need to buy any fancy junk.

yup, then go to Yacht Brite Buff Magic with a rotary buffer, followed by Yacht Brite Pro Polish.
