Am I wasting my time waxing the bottom of my boat?
The boat is kept in the water just south of Washington DC from May to October. The algae growth and brown build-up effects the performance and gas mileage considerably as the season goes on (approx 3mph per month in the water). I usually pull it and clean it in July. Hull cleaner has always made it look like new. I then wax the cleaned hull.
This has worked well for 15 years and 2 boats. I will usually get 8-10 mph back. However, am I wasting my time waxing the bottom? It doesn't take long for the stain to start building up and I am questioning if the wax is doing any good?
Thoughts?
Thanks
