I know the 30A slips require the special adapter for 30A service but I have not been there with my current boat that requires typical 50A service.

They say they have 50A/208V on D-Land and A-Land 110). Is there an adapter required for 50A service or will those work for me?

Hi Jeff, if you have 50A/208V service on your boat no adapter is required at Watch Hill.

There used to be like 8 slips that were 220v
Has that changed?
 
I have "A/C – 50-amps/240-volts with split 115 volt legs rb2@gr5t 60 HZ" which i believe is the standard 50A connection (and connector) that I use everywhere without issue.

I've never heard of 50/208
 
My boat has two 30 amp inlets. Pretty sure that I used a 50 amp 125/ to 2 30 amp 125 splitter (Marinco 152 AY?) at the post at Sailor’s Haven. I think that Watch Hill is probably the same.
If you want to use just one 30 amp cord I think you need a 50/125 male to 30/125 female (Marinco 110A?).
I could be wrong. Too many damn adapters on the boat!
If your boat has a single 50 amp/250 volt inlet you may have a problem there unless they have a few slips to accommodate you since you need the 250 to your boat in order for anything to work.
The only other way to get it would probably involve getting it with a reverse Y adapter from your boat and two 30 amp cords with appropriate “Watch Hill” pigtail adapters to two separate power stanchions which might not go over well with the guy in the slip next to you.
My dock neighbor just picked up his new to him 48 Sundancer last week and he had to get 50/250 from two 30/125 amp outlets on his dock with a reverse Y adapter and 2 30 amp cords. I think the Marinco number is RY 504-2-30.
 
All of D dock is 50/208 and 50/125. That is new this year. I think there are a couple of other slips that have
that same arrangement. The remainder of the slips are 50/125

It's the same thing as 50/208, you'll see it listed differently. My plug says 240, my boat panel says 220, and at most places it's really about 208.

There used to be 10 slips on D dock with 50/208 but after the marina work all D dock slips have that setup from what I understand.
 
It’s coming back to me now. I was there once and the 208V (120 out of phase verse the normal 180 out of phase which gives 240V) won’t power my boat.

Basically by using two power stations I need to create my own 240V and reverse Y them together. I always carry extra 30 amp cables and reverse Y in case I need it but I only have one watch hill adapter. I guess I’ll rent one and see how my boat neighbor feels about it.

It either that or run the genny as needed. Not a big deal either way.

sadly were not allowed to use our gensets in watch hill. Another park service regulation. Even in the day slips . They really bust balls . With the renovation they may have got smart and did away with old style electrical outlets once and for all.. But who knows .

I believe the 50/208 is the nominal rating of the electrical stanchion. If the service was done correctly, it should be a four wire system that provides three phase 208V power. I doubt (and seriously hope) they didn't wire it for single phase service because that will NOT power a 50/250 boat. In years past the stanchions were labeled 50/250 but never delivered more than 205V (and as little as 195V) on very hot days, likely due to incoming voltage droop to the step down transformer. I will be there this Friday and will provide an update. BTW, the reverse Y adapter costs about $700. On another note, the new rates compared to last year are 50% higher on weekends and 100% higher during shoulder periods. Electric for 50/208 is also 50% higher. This weekend is $192 a night for me. I can't wait to meet the Concierge upon check in. I wonder what time the spa opens? Does anyone else find these new rate increases unusually high for a federal park?

How do you power at AYC? If you can use 2 30 amps, then its not any different. Basically you need a 50/125 to two 30a adapter which I have a extra one.

Brian, I was surprised how much they increased the rates too. I expected a little bump but a 50% jump is a lot. Will be interesting to see how that impacts how many boats are there.
 
You can reserve on Dockwa so it’s possible all weekends on D dock will be booked quickly.
 
Same electric connections as previous.. I reserved with Dockwa for this weekend (confirmed) and next weekend (not yet confirmed) hoping that the reservation thing works out.. I'm willing to pay the extra $1 per foot hopefully this limits the overbooking, and people leaving their boats there days ahead of time to guarantee a spot. Were planning to clean up the bay beach Saturday, we were there this past weekend, and its a mess. I have extra trash bags if anyone is interested.. well be there Saturday morning sometime. I hope everyone had a great off season, and we get a great boating season this year. it sure started off late, cold, and rainy..
 
PS. the board walk to the Bay Beach is currently missing (hopefully it gets rebuilt it's a sand walk at the moment) And the raised bay overlook area is GONE.. I remember there being a bench with a plaque on it. hopefully this will all be rebuilt, but as of last Sunday it was all MIA..

Dave, I am in the same boat as Jeff, if I understand his post. With my boat, two 30 amp circuits will not power my boat unless one of the 30 amp circuits is on a different phase. Then when you have that, you need a "smart y adapter" to get 220 volts. So in short, the "smart y adapter" converts two 110v 30 amp outlets to 220v.
This configuration is only necessary and found on boats that have 220v appliances. What I did at the AYC, was have their electrician wire one of my 30 amp outlets with a different phase.
 
Also, in Jeffs case, it is a foreign made boat, other side of the pond. Other side of the pond 220v is the norm.
