Our FOWH board members recently met with the National Park Service "NPS" to discuss the upcoming renovation. The NPS confirmed the Watch Hill Marina will be open this May (May 7, 2016).

The renovation is planned to begin mid-September 2016 and will include:
3,841 linear feet of bulkhead (in front of existing bulkhead),
new decking,
replacement of electrical systems and water lines, and
new electric stanchions
the marina configuration will remain the same
Funding sources include $3.49 million from the Federal Highway Administration, $1.5 million from the National Park Service Hurricane Sandy Relief and $3 million from the National Park Service Recreation.

As you know, Fire Island Concessions (Ken and Marybeth Stein) are aware of the project and will be able to serve customers through most of the season i.e., September 15th. The timing of completion of the renovation is not available at this time as the 2017 winter weather is unpredictable.

FOWH will of course update you as we receive further information from the NPS. Looking forward to another great season at Watch Hill!

WHY when I read this do I get such a bad feeling inside......... :)

Thinking that bad feeling is your Viagra from Canada, LOL

WOWH looks like they rolled over on this . WTF

THE DAY SLIPS have to be electrified during this improvement . NOT TO DO SO IS CRIMINAL. Total mismanagement. I'm disgusted . Its a once in a lifetime chance to do things right and of course it has to get screwed up !

NOTICE NO MENTION OF THE DREDGING OF THE BASIN ... TOTAL BULL**** !

How did u guys miss they were going to implement METERED electric. I nearly fell off my chair . A government that cant do anything timely or on budget is going to meter transient electric ? Just think about how many people come and go at dusk . So many other factors .... ITs too funny

I have a question if anyone knows, are they changing the electric stanchions to 30amp, or keeping the 50amp ones? last year I sold my old boat, and gave the new owners my WH adapter, my new boat came with a 50 - 30 amp adapter (score) I thought.. turns out it is 125/250 50 amp to 30 amp. so I'm buying a new one.. if they are keeping the 50 amp. I'm going to get a Y adapter, if they are changing to 30amp, I'll get a straight one just for this season.
Also, does anyone know where I would need that 125/250 50 to 30 amp adapter? I was thinking Block maybe? the previous owners were in Huntington, and spend a lot of time in CT.

That adaptor is popular and used in Block, Norwalk, Mystic, Kingston and a host of other places we have visited.
I do not know about WH but was your new boat previously named "Never Home"?

Yes, I purchased "Never Home" last September. so far I'm very happy with her. and the previous owners were really great to deal with.

We cruised with Never Home on many trips over the years and it always ran well. The bubble back camper came in handy many places we went and that dockside adaptor was the primary one Bob used at most places we stayed at.
I think you will continue to love that boat....

Small World, we will put her to good use. I promised Bob a day trip this year, so once the weather breaks ill have to call him up..

Who knows what screwed up things are instore for us with the incompotence running the show at the park service.
