I recently had the outdrive bellows and water pump replace. I drove the boat for about 4 hours, when the boat started to have hydrolock. I took it back to boat shop where then replace starter then relized it was hydrolock. They got it to turn again, however told me it needed to be rebuilt.
I took the boat back and drained the oil...I would guess about 2 quarts of water came out.
I removed the engine to fine the source of water. The closer two cylinders on both side had long term rust...also the internals of the exhaust manifolds had light rust.
From reading various post I suspected exhaust manifold must be the source of water. I pluged outlet and filled both with water. Water is not showing up in the exhaust ports?
I plan on taking engine to rebuild shop for leak testing however block looks pretty good. Minus little rust....any recommendations on water source or how to test exhaust manifolds?
Maybe it was bad seal on exhaust maifolds however lot's of water in four hours.
Also, I suspect the outdrive water pump was not working properly prior to replacemnet, because it would get hot during idle and mechanic showed me pump. Maybe the additional pressure caused larger amounts of leakage?
