On a recent delivery of a 40 foot 1987 Hat ther was two problems that I could not completely understand.
1) the Port engine ( 350 HP Crusaders, 800 hrs) consumed 1 Qt oil every 2 hours ** 3000 RPM. Could not see that much oil in bildge, no slick behind boat, no blue smoke, no oil in fresh water, no water in oil, engine ran full power with no missing or hesitation, Compression check before leaving was 130- 140 in all cylinders showing a good set of compression rings. Any ideas on this?
2) Water interusion from center stringer in engine room filling up batteryy compartment (no bildge pump located here) one drop every 2 seconds along several spots would accumlate overnight to 1 - 2 gallon of seawater. IS it possible the water could be leaking throught the hull fibreglass? (no holes in hull at pull out inspection)
