My water temp gage has not worked since I bought my boat a month or 2 ago and I have been trying to fix it. At first, the gage just read nothing ie lowest reading on gage. To check it, I shorted out the sender and the gage moved up and down but ended up being stuck at about 155 (cold motor). So I replaced the sender. Still reads 155 with the motor hot or cold and never moves from that position. I tried shorting out the sender again and still no movement. My questions are, do you think I fried the gage? Blown fuse? Other? Also if the gage is fried, will any aftermarket water temp gage work (mounted somewhere else on the dash)?
Any help would be much appreciated.
