Well the boat is in storage and its time to do some winter work. What do you recommend for a good hull wax/cleaner with some UV protection? Remember this will be done by hand, I have no power buffers or orbital tools. Please dont make me work too hard on this. I was hoping for a spray on wax off type of product. wax on wax off. 2565...

There is at least one answer for every person on this board...all of them different. I use Aurora products and am quite pleased with them.

Borst, spray on wipe off is ok for a touch up like removing a black streak or something. The best stuff going IMO is made by Collinite. It's a two part system but well worth it. Start with the Collinite Fiberglass Cleaner # 920. You can apply to entire boat if you so desire. I did my 37' one evening & came back following day to remove. Very easy to remove !! After all the cleaner is removed, apply the Collinite Heavy Duty Paste Fleet Wax (No. 885). DO NOT, DO NOT let it dry. Do I have to repeat that. If you do, you will come looking for me for recommending the product. It, however comes off as easy as any other liquid AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT LET IT DRY !! Just do small areas, 2x2 or 2x3' areas and remove immediately. If you should apply and go for a beer & it drys on you; don't panic, it does come off. To make it even easier just re-apply right over dried portion and buff off. I think you'll like it. I've been using it for over 20 years.

Borst,
Boat US recomends Collinite #885, Meguir's Professisional Paste Wax, 3M Ultra Performance, and West Marine Carnuba. Paste waxes will last longer than liquid waxes. I try to wax my boat at least 3-4 times a year, due to where I am and that I use it year round.

We have only used Meguire's paste cleaner and wax on our boat. We swear by the stuff!!!

Waxing Frenzy! Wasy on and off, great shine and long lasting. I also like it because you can put it on in full sun.

What about a mguires automotive wax/cleaner? I wonder if there is really a difference between boat and automotive. My weekend weather forecast predicts sun and warm temps. I dont have a local boat shop or marina to buy any of the above prducts prior to this weekend? I would have to order them online. I was hoping to get her waxed and clean by the end of sunday.

I have to go with the Waxing Frenzy as well. I have been using it for the last four years and no wax I have previously used is as easy or long lasting.

I use the West Marine Paste wax...easy off, paste on...but it makes my old boat shine like new!
