What waxes do you recommend? Any one have any luck with a one step cleaner wax? I know the proper way is to use a rubbing compund then wax, but I am looking for the easy route this year.

Collinite 925 wax...lots of the big yachties use this...really nice stuff.

Mike,
That is what I was afraid of!! There is never an easy way out!

dritter, it depends on condition of surface you are waxing. I have used only a cleaner/wax on my hull & I feel it looks like it just came out of mold. Rec'd many complements on hull condition. On other areas like front of bridge; I use Collenite cleaner followed by Collenite "PASTE" wax. Both cleaner & wax are very easy to reemove "IF" you follow directions. DO NOT LET THE WAX DRY.......FOLLOW DIRECTIONS. APPLY & REMOVE IMMEDIATELY! Nothing better on the market.

Is proper procedure to use compound, polish, then wax?

Never mind, just went and reads Mike's procedure for buffing.

Our 2001 Regal was so-so in shine appearance when we bought it. We ran 2005 as is because it was the first time we had been in boating in 10+ years. In the spring of 2006 we detailed the boat with Aurora and it came back like brand new. During the season, it cleaned up great and easily. Folks at the marina thought we had the boat re-gelled or painted in the off season.

I second the use of the aurora marine products.

Once you remove the oxidization, their Boat Shine does an excellent job. I like the fact that it's a polymeric coating versus a wax. It goes on easier and comes off easier than any wax I've ever used and protects longer than any wax I've ever used. No matter what wax you use, it's going to soften when it gets hot and attract dirt. I also use Zaino Brothers products on my cars, they seem to be based upon the same principal as the Aurora products.

You might also want to look at some of the other Aurora products. I've used four or five different products from them and am very happy with the results.

Waxing Frenzy, great product and you can use it in the sun. Wish Les would carry it.

We're new to Boatered & relatively new to boat ownership. We're preparing to scheduled a launch date for the '07 season & would like to know if any of you have used the product "Easy-On Bottom Treatment" by Marine-Tex. One of the boating mags thought pretty highly of this product & was wondering if you've used it.
Thank you all & safe boating...

Still using Zaino and loving it. I am out of Canaveral in Florida and it seems to last longer than anything else I have tried.

The ONLY wax I use...on all my vehicles. I've never used any wax product that lasted as long and is so easy to apply.

MardiGrasTexan

I tried the Collinite liquid Fleetwax (cleaner wax) and it did not shine the way everyone says it does. I pulled out an old automotive cleaner wax (meguires) and it shined up 2X's better than the fleetwax.

Either I am applying it wrong or I this product isn't that good.

FYI, I tried the following in small test areas
Letting it haze then buffing it off by hand
Letting it dry them buffing it off by hand
Not letting it dry and then buffing it off by hand
Go inside, get old cleaner wax....right where the shine should be.

I checked out the Waxing Frenzy site and the stuff sounds to good to be true. Does it really work that well?? I'm all for easy!!!
