Are you on for your trip up river this week? We've all watched this saga and are anxious to know the outcome. I also noticed that you were having someone removed the "hydrated ethanol" although you said that had previously ran all the old fuel out. Did Your current jechanic say whether this continuing water in the fuel could have contributed to your carburetor problems? I assume that when you said "hydrated ethanol" the ethanol had absorbed the water so it didn't show up when you looked at the fuel in a glass jar.

I think the increased use of ethanol is going to continue to bring new problems for gasoline powered boatersfor a while.

The boat ran well!!! I brought it up on plane and ran it to benecia and bk. There is still work to be done as the shifters were damaged and are uneven. But the good news is the boat is drivable.

I had a specialist remove water from the tank to rule it out as a possibility. He said he found 12 ounces.. Not much and said 12oz in a 150 gallon fuel tank shouldn't cause running issues.

Long story short is the boat ran well this weekend so my boat trip is still on.

Dave, I am with Les's recommendation of no names. Please remove the marine shop's name from this and your previous post "Thread disappeared, Wayne any good news?” I have known the owners and much of the staff of this marine shop for over 10 years; while this outcome seems positive now if things were to go arwy I wouldn't want them to experience the public ridicule of Wayne's previous mechanics. I also think the poll "Which Mechanics have you had good success with?" should be deleted.

DD,

I respect your opinion and I have deleted the new shop's name from this thread and other thread regarding Wayne's problems. I think the poll thread is fine as it is designed only to reflect good experiences. Those shops that routinely provide good service will rise the top, much like cream.

Agreed. Im not using marine shop names moving forward. General experiences are fine but no names unless you email me directly requesting.
