While fixing my boat this morning, I saw a guy on the work rack next to me spraying WD40 all over the hull of his boat. After spraying, he wiped it out with a cloth. I told him I have never seen this before and asked him if WD40 was a good wax substitute. Instead of answering, he just sprayed a little on my boat and dried it off with the cloth. Obviously, WD40 is an oily substance, it did shine. Has anybody heard of this before? Could WD40 be good for the gelcoat?
