I'm done with this weather already! Hoping we are seeing the end soon.

Explain to me why I rush my boat into the water?
My wax guy has been trying to finish topside for a month now!
This is why i want to leave Long Island.
next stop Florida!
Though I would be on my boat living if I have my way from May to September.

Dave. Just came up from FL this past Tuesday. This is why I have been in no rush to get back here.

Mark, I am there. Last year of work. We are looking in Vero Beach.

This weather sucks 4 sure.
Got in almost 4 weeks ago and just had arch and stainless rails to polish left to do on the outside of the boat. Got everything else done, much of it wearing 3 layers of clothes, before I went in the water.
Still have the arch and stainless to do.
Now it’s almost time to wax the topsides again.
I was able to shampoo cabin carpet, scrub cockpit vinyl and cockpit non skid though.
Plus it’s been nice to just hang out on the boat a bit.

The weather in Florida has not been a picnic either. We managed to get out the last 2 Saturdays for a half-day before Mother Nature turned into a Mother. We have plans for this Memorial Day weekend, but the current forecast may cancel that. Our rainy season usually doesn't start until June, but this year it started last week. Even the gulf temp is only in the high 70's when it usually is in the low to mid 80'd this time of year-which is nipply on this side of the track-nipply can be good with the right passengers/guests/admiral. Sometimes it sucks living in Florida...but someone has to-I volunteered 35+ years ago and have never looked back.

As much as I sometimes complain about NY I’m probably a lifer here. The only way I’ll probably leave is if my kids decide to settle somewhere else.
The taxes and cost of living are terrible, but I doubt that I’d be in the financial position to pay them now if I hadn’t lived and worked here all my life.
My sister and brother in law left in 91 and moved to Palm Beach County because of it, They’re the same age as my me and my wife (64 & 61) and not set for retirement as well as we are.
They love the hot weather and are still glad they made the move and raised their kids there but my brother in law says the one thing he really misses about NY is the boating. He had a small boat the first few years they were down there but got out of it a few years later because he said it wasn’t the same.
I love the Spring, Summer, Fall and Christmas seasons here. It just sucks when we get cheated out of typical Spring weather like we did this year. I guess it’s the price we’re paying for the great Fall we had last year.
I really only hate January, February, and the first half of March. Our son will be going away to College in the Fall and our Daughter will be a College senior so if all goes well we’ll have a lot more freedom to travel during the terrible months to make them go faster.

We just got back from Fla. a few days ago looking north of Vero for a permanent place. Are you having any success looking at locations in Vero so far?
