......to tow this one

Makes you wonder why they allow ships in the canal larger than they can tow.

You know the answer to that, GeeBee - $$$$.

The article seems to indicate that this isn't the first time, either.

They got it loose. Reports indicate it was wind. All they had to do was chuck horsepower at it :)

Oops. I guess I was the victim of fake news.

I think it moved a bit and they were optimistically reporting

Now they are saying it could be weeks. Hopefully that is not the case.

talk about needing a bigger boat, those tugs look tiny compared to that ship

Old boy in command of that ship is going to be sitting higher on the mantle than Joe Hazelwood.

From what I heard they were going faster than normal. I am thinking that didn't help when things went sideways and got it stuck in the mud good and deep. Photos indicate the bow is significantly higher than the stern. That's not a good sign.

"The dick pic is pretty apt, considering how completely boned the ship currently is"

LMHO

But Hazelwood was in the bag was he not?

one report said they lost power. Another report said wind storm
which one was it or both?

He was.

The speed may have been (and I AM just guessing here) due to anticipated winds. Speed helps steering, and displacement needs replacement.

I wonder if the canal pilot yelled alahu ahkbar before turning the ship sideways :) or if he was bribed by from China

We are assuming it is an accident...

I have had those thoughts as well. It's almost as if there were never high winds in the canal area before. High speed, high winds, food for thought. Perfect alibi?
