WM price match seems to work well. I ordered a Garmin chartplotter/depth combo unit from WM after a web search for price. A few days later I found the same unit for a little over $100 cheaper. I called WM customer service and the representative quickly verified my 'find'. No hassel, the order was updated to the new charge and a week or so later my credit card had a credit for the old charge. They also added a VHF to the order that I had found at a much better price.

plus you still get the "points" rebate kind of discount dollar coupons by mail.

I wonder how long this program will last?

Good point. I do not think I have ever bothered with a price match program before, but in the case it was so easy not to mention I saved over a $100 on EACH item. That made it worth the time to try. Plus as you get the points. One other thing there was some kind of shipping issue in getting one item ship and they sent me a $20 gift card without my even complaining.

I’ve gone WM, found what I want, and done an internet search on my phone while in the store. They will match the price at the register.

That's interesting. Seemed a few years ago that WM had pumped the brakes on that. Still "a policy" but with enough limitations that it lost a lot of usefulness. Now it's looking pretty good. Glad to hear it.

I think price matching is critical for brick-and-mortar stores in the era of Amazon and Google. When I replaced my kitchen appliances a couple of year ago I went to the locally owned store instead of the big boxes around the corner. The salesman was knowledgeable, helped me get the appropriate appliances and before he wrote up my order he went online and searched for every item and adjusted prices accordingly. That'll get my business every time!

I work for WM, and have even done internet searches if the customer does not have his phone with him. An excellent policy. I too hope it lasts.

great seque - Drove by a Toys R Us location today and saw this sign at the curb:

"Out of Business - Selling Fixtures"

My stereo died yesterday. Googled the replacement, found the best price online, checked that West Marine had it in stock locally, they price matched and I bought it from them.
Installed it last night.
Smart business move on their part.
Would not have bought it from them if it were not for this policy.
Haven’t bought much from them the last several years because I could get much better prices online. Now that I know how easy it is to get a price match I intend to buy from them more often.

The downside of living in the woods is the nearest West Marine is over an hour away. I was spoiled for choice when living outside Fort Lauderdale, with a West Marine every few miles and plenty of their competitors. I may have to make the drive to stock up on all the boat stuff I just have to have but can't think of until I am wandering the aisles...

B, Tuscaloosa has the same problem, but online works well till I get back to the boat and beach.
