Hi,
I have a Westerbeke 7KW gasoline generator. I just changed the gas filter a week ago (maintenance). It ran fine for a few hours. It has a history of shutting itself off if I run up to plane off(another mystery). It would always start up again after I slowed down or stopped the boat (40'Jersey Dawn). This time it would only start and idle very slowly? The speed of the generator is self regulating and normally runs at a medium RPM. It is making a pulsating wooshing sound that made me think that the exhaust hose had cracked or a spark plug had come loose. Neither seems to be the case. I did notice a strong sucking and blowing of air through the air filter intake. I never noticed this before and don't know if this is normal. The oil was fine and the radiator was full although the reserve was empty. The generator is about 2 years old and has about 500 hours on it.

This has me puzzled because it ran fine when I left the dock. Of course it was 100 degrees out and the A/C won't work without the generator unless you are plugged into the dock!

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Ed
