I have a westerbeke 4.5bcgb it wll no keep running after I let go of start switch. we checked sending units for oil, water, xhaust temp and replace k2 relays and stil not working. was going to buy 3 new sending units but cant figure which oil one to get? My owners maual shows 2 of them. 1 nc normally closed and 1 no normally open in my parts list???
Any help would be appreciated.
 
I used to have the same problem. Check online for reset procedures. It's done in the ER with the start and choke switches on the unit itself. I can't recall the exacts, but it solved mr problem.
 
Taking a quick look at the manual. could it be possibly be activating the (over-speed) High-RPM Shutdown Switch (p.11) ?
It says "After correcting the problem, that switch can be reset by momentarily depressing the Stop Switch. Refer to the wiring diagrams in this manual." That may be what David was referring to above (?).

That same page 11 also describes the 2 low oil pressure switches. The one that would shutdown the engine due to low pressure is the NO (figure 9-1, part number 037323) The other one 9-2 (NC) apparently is only used on SeaRays and just goes to the alarm system. Also shown on p. 21 of the operators manual.
 
Replacing sensors. I have a sea ray and they have 2 oil sensors. 1 is normally closed and 1 normally open. 1 is 5psi and other 10 psi . Manual does not differentiate between the 2! Does it matter which one goes where or can I put in either spot?
 
Repacked both oil sensors, exhaust sensor, high temp sensor, and both k2 relays. Really frustrated! Any more suggestions?
 
Check over rev sensor/solenoid.
If all else fails, unhook all safety sensors, oil pressure, over heat, etc. & start hooking up until problem shows itself.
