What are the 'official' roles and responsibiities of a dockmaster? What makes a good one, what makes a bad one.
We are on our 3rd one since we came to our current marina. First 2 were a joke IMHO (1 was always drunk, 1 knew nothing about running a marina), 3rd one was incredible. The incredible one just resigned and there is no 'communicated' plan to replace him.
My wife and are are thinking "OK, nobody is keeping an eye on our boat now excpet our neighbors". We are 45+ minutes away. She could sink in her slip and we may never even get a call.
We have exchanged phone #'s with some of our slip mates, but honestly it's not their responsibility to keep an eye on our boat. I assume it's the dodckmasters responsibility?
